“See you in school!”
That’s the message one little Canadian girl wanted to send to her new Syrian friends.
In the midst of Canada’s first efforts to resettle Syrian refugees into the country, Canada’s children are sending in heartwarming video messages to welcome their new neighbors, some of which have been compiled in the video above. Warning: It’ll make you tear up.
The video features children sending their “welcome to Canada” wishes in several languages including English, French, German and Spanish.
“I can’t imagine what you’ve been through, and I really hope you like it here in Canada,” one boy said.
“I hope you might live near us,” said another.
“I wanna be your best friend,” a little girl exclaimed.
The messages were collected by World Vision Canada, a community development non-profit. The videos are being gathered under #CanadiansWelcome — World Vision says it will pass the messages along to incoming refugees.
